Kathryn Marie Huffar

Kathryn Marie Huffar, 58, of Demotte, IN, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN.

She was born October 7, 1951 in Cobden, Illinois to Gene K. and Betty Yvonne (Nichols) Winn Sr.

Mrs. Huffar was a homemaker and mother.

Cremation has occured and private family services will be conducted.


 
 

William Sherman Walsh Jr.
July 10, 2010

William Sherman Walsh, Jr., 81, of Griffith, IN, passed away at 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 10, 2010. He was born September 20, 1928, in Waco, TX to Capt. William S. and Marie (Swenson) Walsh, Sr.

Sherman was a resident of Northwest Indiana for most of his life. He loved his job as an engineer with Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad in Hammond for 35 years. Sherman was happiest when surrounded by family. He was also an avid White Sox fan but enjoyed all sports. Sherman was in the U.S. Army and served stateside during the an War.

Sherman is survived by his wife of 50 years, Darlene (Trummp) Walso. Also surviving is one son, Dan (Anita) Walsh of Gary, one daughter, Debbie (Bill) Kane of Crown Point; six grandchildren: Bill Kane, Adam (Kristen) Kane, Jordan (Nicole) Kane, Dan Walsh, Andrew Hutchison, and Kristie Hutchison; two great grandchildren; Conner Kane and Brandon Boyd. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother Edwin Wlash.

The family is having a private memorial service.


 
 

George M. Dorsey

George M. Dorsey, 67, of Dyer, IN, passed away peacefully at 8:50 am, Friday, July 9, 2010 at Regency Place of Dyer.

Mr. Dorsey was born May 22, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Eugene and Dorothy (Alvis) Dorsey.

George was a Carman for Indiana Harbor Belt before his reitirement.

Cremation has occured and private family services will be conducted.


 
 
Elvira "Vera" Tello
July 2, 2010

Elvira “Vera” Tello, 71 of Porter, IN, passed away peacefully Friday, July 2, 2010 after several months of illness. She was a homemaker, cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that loved caring for her family. She will be dearly missed. Vera is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 40 years Larry E. Tello, Sr. in 2004.
Surviving are one son Larry E. Tello, Jr, two daughters, Elaine (Dennis) McCafferty, Ann Marie (Robert) Delinsky, five grandchildren, Larry III, Steven, Daniel, Allison, Robert Jr., two great-grandchildren, Trenton & Larry IV, three sisters & several nieces and nephews. According to Vera’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private blessing held to scatter her ashes.


 
 

Herman Allie

Herman Allie, 77, of Lowell, Inidiana passed away peacefully at 9:40 pm at his home with his family at his side.

He was born July 2, 1932 in Scheider, New York to Herman and Virginia (Olds) Allie.

Herman was an electrician for Media Electric and honorably served in the United States Navy.

Survivors include his adoring wife Laona "Honey" (Ogborn) Allie, and his children and grandchildren.

Cremation has occured and private family services will be held.


 
 
Dolores L. Stanton
June 26, 2010

Mrs. Dolores Lorraine Stanton, age 79, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away peacefully at St. Anthony Hospital of Crown Point, Indiana.

Dolores was born July 9, 1930 to Sanford "Sandy" and Isabelle (Lathers) Cowher in Port Matilda, PA.

She managed various restaurants in the Cedar Lake area including Pizza Hut.

Surviving is her husband of fifty years, James Stanton. Also her daughters, Georgia K. (Steven) Brown and Deborah M. Mucha, sons, Paul (Judy) Riggleman and Ricky Stanton. She is also survived by serveral grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A son in law Stephen Much preceded her in death.

According to Loretta's wishes, a private family service will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place.


 
 

Bernard McKeel Sr.
June 18, 2010

Mr. Bernard McKeel Sr., age 76, of Chicago, Illinois passed away June 18, 2010 at Northwestern University of Chicago.

Bernard was born January 10, 1934 to Harvey and Odessa (Hicks) McKeel in Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. McKeel worked for years with the Chicago Transit Authority. He also honorably served in the United States Air Force.

Private family services have taken place.


 
 
Loretta Krol

Loretta Krol, age 76, of Merrillville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2010 at Lincolnshire Healthcare in Merrillville.

Miss Krol was born November 28, 1933 to Lawrence and Frances (Tobias) Krol in East Chicago, Illinois.

Loretta had worked as a secretary in offices in the area for years.

Private family services have been held and burial of ashes in Holy Cross Cemetery in Calument City, Illinois.


 
 

Hugh B. Taylor

Hugh B. Taylor, age 64, of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away on June 10, 1945 to Roland and Frances (Giddens) Dessereau in Hillsborough Co., Florida.

Mr. Taylor had been a writer and teacher, and honorable served in the US Navy.

Private family services were coducted and creamtion has taken place.

Mr. Howard D. Spradlin, age 70 of Gary, Indiana passed away on June 4, 2010 at 12:45 p.m. at Town Centre Retirement Community of Gary, Indiana.

Mr. Spradlin was born on November 24, 1939 to Floyd and Jesse (Hinds) Spradlin in Tyler, Texas.

Survivors include many relatives and a long time companion Corinthy Kerr of Gary, IN.

Private family services will be conducted and cremation has taken place.

Debra Kozlowski,59, of Blue Island, Illinois, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at her home.

Debra was born as one of tiplets in Chicago on February 25, 1951 to Arthur and Elizabeth (McKirchy) Meyers, both preceded her in death.

Surviving is her sister Diana Overland of Valparaiso.

Private family services will be held at a later date.


 
 
Adoline "May" Gleason
April 28, 2010

Adoline "May" Gleason, age 80, of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully with family members at her side at 3:50 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Wittenberg Village, Crown Point, IN.

She was born July 17, 1929, in Hammond, IN, to Oliver E. and Perna (Cochran) Rominger.

May, as her friends and family knew her, was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

On November 20, 1946 she married Jack O. Gleason who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Harold and Donald Rominger; two sisters, Olive Anthony and Thelma Marley; and great grandchildren Bryan Lloyd, Mary Akers


Surviving are her two sons, Jonathon (Diane) Gleason of Crown Point, IN, Gary (Colleen) of Hammond, IN; two daughters, Alanna (Michael) LaBarge, of Ks, Linda (Wayne) Conn of Hammond, IN; two sisters, Marlene (Victor) Ramsey of FL, Jean Frederick of Hammond, IN, and sister-in-law Betty Rominger of Hammond, IN; seventeen grandchildren; and 48 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, especially we will all miss her smile and hilarious wit. May had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for over ten years and she now is at eternal peace with our LORD and SAVIOR in Heaven. Creamation will take place. Midwest Crematory, 678 E. Hupp Rd., La Porte, IN is caring for the arrangements.

A private burial of ashes will be held in Chapel lawn Cemetery, Scherville, IN at a later date. Steven James Alessio, of Gary, Indiana, passed away at 8:07 p.m., Sunday, April 4, 2010 at his home.

He was born August 1, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Shirley (Wenzel) Alessio Sr..

Mr. Alessio was a locomotive repairman for Chrome Crank Shaft of Lake County.

Surviving is his brother James Alessio of Hammond.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a son.

Frank Knight, 61, of La Porte, IN, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso.

Daniel "Butch" O’Brien, 76, of Crete, IL., passed away at 3:30 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2010, at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights, IL.

He was born April 11, 1933, in Chicago, IL., to Daniel and Rosemary (Curran) O’Brien who preceded him in death.

Daniel honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

On September 5, 1953, in Chicago he married Vivian (Goss) O’Brien who survives him.

Also surviving are three children, Maureen (Larry) Donovan, of Homer Glen, IL., Danny O’ Brien, of Crete, IL. and Kathy (David) Wilkie, of Watersmeet, MI.;1 brother Charlie (Carole) O’Brien, of Crown Point, IN.; 1 sister Jane Smigiel, Lemont, IL.; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Steven J. Domanski, 40, of St. Jospeh, MI. and formerly of Lowell, IN. passed away at 5:35 a.m. Thursday December 17, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, MI.

He was born August 11, 1969 in Detroit, MI. to Norbert "Herb" and Cora (Stofanik) Domanski who survive of Crown Point, IN.

He also survived by his wife, Angie M. Domanski; one son, Logan Domanski, 7; two step-children, Zachary Frahn, 19 and Brittany Chamberlain, 15; two brothers, Andy Domanski of Lowell, IN. and Paul Domanski of Atlanta, GA.; and one neice Sarah Domanski.
